COINCARDS GENERAL INFORMATION
We currently accept Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dash and Dogecoin directly.
We also have an integrated third-party coin-to-coin exchange, Changelly. This service is meant to help users, however, we cannot provide any end support for these services.
Most gift cards listed on Coincards.com come at no additional fees.
If a gift card does have an additional fee, you will see this marked as a 5% convenience fee. These cards are more difficult to obtain and usually are purchased by Coincards at face value. We continue to work with the merchants in all our supported regions to bring the best values possible.
Coincards does not add any fees to our exchange rates or hide any extra fees in our services.
We do not recommend sending funds directly from an exchange.
All payments must be made within 30 minutes of order creation. Many exchanges take hours if not days to send funds on withdrawal requests. This can cause funds to be frozen in our system.
Exchanges also typically “skim” fees from the amount being sent. This can often cause issues with underpayments. Underpaid orders will typically show as cancelled in our system and will not be processed.
Payment Pending – Your order has been placed, however payment has not been acknowledged. Our system instantly picks up most payments as soon as they are made. If you have paid for your order, and its “Payment Pending” please contact support.
Here are three common reasons for your order not being acknowledged properly:
- The network fee was too low – The network fee is a fee required to broadcast your transaction to the network. If too low, the network may ignore your transaction.
- Underpaid – If you have not sent enough funds, your invoice may be underpaid and your invoice will show as still requiring a payment.
- Exchange/Custodial Wallet Users – If you sent your payment from an exchange, they will likely not send the payment to use within the allotted time frame. Most exchanges also take a fee from the users payment, causing underpaid issues. Please do not use an exchange or custodial wallet to send funds to Coincards.ca
Awaiting Confirmations – Your order has been received and we are awaiting the needed confirmations to process the order. We require a minimum of 2 Confirmations on the blockchain before processing orders. Lightning Network Payments do not require confirmations and are confirmed instantly. Orders which are confirmed after 6 hours of the initial broadcast will be marked as failed and may require a refund.
Confirmations Complete – Your order has now achieved the needed confirmation threshold. This status usually only lasts upto 60 seconds as your order if processing. If your order remains in this status for over 10 minutes, please open a support ticket as it might require manual intervention.
Paid Late – Your payment was sent after the 30 minute timer expired. This was likely because your payment came from an exchange or a third party custodial wallet. Your payment needs to be manually approved, or cancelled. If cancelled, you will be contacted requesting a refund address at your cost. To avoid a “Paid Late” status, refrain from using exchanges or custodial wallets for purchases.
Processed – Your order has been completed and all vendors have confirmed that your gift cards are en route. If your order was shipped from Coincards.ca offices, this status indicates your order has now shipped. No further action is required.
Failed – Your payment has failed. Your invoice may have been underpaid, or your payment was not confirmed within 6 hours of placing your order. Please contact Coincards.ca for a refund.
Cancelled – Your payment was not received or your payment was received underpaid and your order has been cancelled.
There are several reasons why a payment might not register as completed:
- Your wallet has underpaid the original amount – In this case, our checkout screen should inform you of any additional amounts which need to be paid as long as the initial payment is picked up. Please send remaining funds to the original BTC address.
- Your payment has a low transaction fee – If your payment does not have a sufficient fee attached, your payment might take longer than allowed to complete on the network and might even be considered invalid. If you send a low fee, and your transaction is not confirmed within 6 hours it will be refunded.
- You are sending a payment from an exchange/coinbase – Exchanges often delay payments in order to batch them, This causes issues with invoices becoming invalid. If you send a transaction from an exchange, and your transaction is not confirmed within 6 hours it will be refunded.
Sometimes you realize you have made a mistake and purchased the wrong card, you no longer want the card purchased, or your transaction expired before getting a single confirmation. How do you get a refund?
*Important* – Refunds can only be issued if an order is either Awaiting Confirmations or is Confirmations completed. No refunds are issued on Processed Orders under ANY circumstances. This includes ALL orders processed fully or partially under our “Quick Delivery” fulfillment system.
- If you would like a refund, please reply to your order email stating your reason for a refund, eg: You have ordered an Apple.ca card instead of iTunes.
- Emailing us will open a ticket in our customer support backend. Our customer service agent will put your order on hold and possibly contact you asking for your refund wallet address.
- Your order will be refunded to your wallet address provided.
- At the time of Refund, Coincards will deduct any bitcoin transaction fees at the customer’s expense which Coincards incurs to refund the payment. Coincards will use the “Standard” fee unless otherwise specified by the client.
Ex: If your payment was for 0.01 BTC, and the fee to send you 0.01 BTC is 0.001 BTC, you will only receive 0.009 BTC to your wallet.

PHYSICAL GIFT CARDS (Canada Only)
Coincards ships gift cards from two seperate locations: Vancouver and Montreal.
The gift cards that are shipped from each location depend on the vendor and our partnership with the vendor. Upon checkout, your order will show which cards are being shipped from which location.
Shipments from our Montreal location are shipped within 2-3 business days. Shipments from our Vancouver location are shipped within 5-10 business days.
We do not provide tracking, unless it was offered upon checkout.
In most cases, Canada Post standard letter mail will be used to deliver physical gift cards. We can not, nor does the merchant offer any sort of insurance against lost or stolen gift cards. Alternative delivery methods are not available at this time.
Coincards default shipping method, does not have tracking information and does not include any insurance.
When available, eligible orders will be presented with advanced shipping options at the customer’s cost. Shipments with Tracking numbers are always shipped with a signature required upon delivery for security reasons.
*Please note that due to the policies of the major couriers, insurance is not available for tracked shipments.*
If you have paid for shipping during the checkout, Canada Post will send you an email with your tracking number. Please contact us if you have not received this.
If you opted for, or were only presented the option for free shipping, there is no way for us to track your shipment.
Some vendors will also provide tracking. We try to provide these details whenever possible.
Coincards takes the stance that all altcoins which carry the term “Bitcoin” in their name do so in an attempt to defraud, confuse, misinform and persuade the public that there is a connection between the original bitcoin chain and the many forks which use the same name.
As such, Coincards will not list ANY altcoin that uses the “Bitcoin” branding. This includes Bitcoin Cash/Gold/SV.
We are looking to implement further coins, however, at this time we are limited to Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dash and Dogecoin.
We are actively looking at expanding to include Ethereum and Monero but have no plans to include additional coins at this time.
Our current exchange rate takes into account an average price the current market, using multiple data sources at several exchanges and also considers current exchange rate volatility.
Currency exchange rates are updated every 60 seconds and can be found on the top bar of any page within the Coincards system.
Lightning payments are still experimental and can be risky at times. Our lightning node status can be found on our Lightning Node Status Page and contains the details needed to connect to our node.
Lightning node connection details can also be found on the Coincards invoice by clicking the “Node Info” button under the “Bitcoin Lightning” payment option, or by clicking the “Copy” tab and selecting the string format of the Coincards node.
Coincards also has a more comprehensive guide including sub-guides for some of the most popular lightning wallets available here:
We know that the Lightning Network can be new and sometimes confusing and even scary to use.
To help our users test the network with real funds, we have lowered our minimum purchase amount on Amazon gift cards to just $1. This ensures that you are able to test the network in a real transaction while still only risking the lowest possible amount of funds until you are confident!
Lightning works on a “Capacity” basis. In order to make a payment to us, you need to have enough capacity either in your own channel directly to Coincards, or along other channels that you have connected to.
Your payment cannot exceed the inbound capacity of these channels. If you are making a larger payment, or multiple payments its best if you open a channel directly with Coincards.
Coincards works with many providers to ensure a healthy inbound capacity to our node at all times.
Due to the nature of the Lightning Network, payments are instant and always for the exact amount requested. This ensures that Coincards is able to instantly verify your payment and in most cases we can instantly process your gift card as well!
Once you are presented with the Coincards invoice with Bitcoin as a payment option, click the “Bitcoin” button with the dropdown to select “Bitcoin Lightning”.
Once selected, you will have a Bolt11 Invoice which you can scan to pay with your Mobile lightning network wallet as well as a “Open in Wallet” button for supported wallets.
Alternatively, you can select the “Copy” tab to be presented with the Bolt11 invoice in a string format which you can copy/paste into your wallet.
Once payment is sent from your wallet, the invoice will change to a “Invoice Paid” notice and your order will be fulfilled!
