Important Update: Potential Canada Post Strike & Delivery Alternatives

Canada Post workers are currently refusing to work overtime as part of a legal strike, which may cause delays in regular mail delivery. There are no full work stoppages yet, and Canada Post is still operating. They’ve made a final offer to the union, but talks are at a standstill. Until we hear of further strike action, we will continue to ship using Canada Post Lettermail.

If you’re in an major urban center our Chit Chats Select option is still available, however is slightly riskier due to its “Safe Drop” process of leaving it at the first available delivery spot with no notices.

We want to ensure all our customers are informed and prepared for potential disruptions to mail service in Canada.

📦 Canada Post Strike: What You Need to Know

Canada Post’s union CUPW has issued a strike notice nationwide strike beginning May 22, 2025. All lettermail and parcel delivery services across Canada will come to a halt. This will affect individuals and businesses alike, including Coincards operations.

💡 Coincards Response: Alternative Delivery Method

To minimize disruption to your orders, Coincards began offering an alternative delivery method starting May 16, 2025, one week prior to the potential strike.

This alternative delivery option includes:

  • Non-signature porch delivery

  • No delivery notifications

  • No insurance coverage

⚠️ This is a “use at your own risk” delivery method. We strongly advise customers to consider the security of their delivery location before selecting this option.

✉️ Canada Post Shipments “On Hold”

Customers can still select Canada Post Lettermail or Parcel delivery options at checkout. However:

  • If you choose a Canada Post option, your item will not ship until service is restored.

  • Once your order is placed and paid, we cannot change the delivery method, as orders are fulfilled from multiple locations and processed immediately.

📍 Special Note for Shipments from Montreal

Please be aware that orders shipping from our Montreal location will be held until the Canada Post strike ends. No alternative delivery options are available for this location at this time.

  • Select Electronic Delivery cards only.

  • If your order is time-sensitive, consider using our alternative porch delivery method.

  • If you prefer the security and tracking of Canada Post, we recommend placing your order after services resume.

  • Monitor your email and our website for further updates.
